Job Summary
The job holder shall develop strategies, policies and programs to prevent vector borne diseases by benchmarking the existing program of Qatar with the regional and intenational standards related to public health. The jobholder shall work alongside MOPH departments, healthcare facilities and communities to support improving the overall health of the Qatar population especially within the areas to deal with pest control problems and implement programs that has a direct positive impact on public health.
Key Role and Responsibilities
1. Ensure implementation of laws regulating the activities of pest control operators(exterminators) and pesticide applicators. 2. Assist in development of the MOPH ‘s strategy on vector borne diseases, initiating new relevant activities and support development of vector surveillance activities relevant for emerging human vector borne diseases. 3. Review current program and policies that target the public health and determine if they can be improved in one way or another, whenever necessary develop and present the findings and opinions to management in order to develop 4. Plan and implement action plan for existing project and programs vector borne diseases 5. Engage in public health work in different areas of research and in the control of many different pests that pose a health hazards or nuissance problem 6. Collaborate with partners in governmental, non-governmental & private organizations on health program development and implementation 7. Conduct professional research and analysis to determine how to improve different issues and challenges in the public health sector and the preparedness and response to vector borne diesease. 8. Liaise with relevant partners for vector monitoring and control activities related to the insect control services and insecticide in Qatar 9. Analyze epidemiological trends of the human vector borne diseases and their risks factors to the community by conducting epidemiological studies and surveillance 10. Enforce timely production of high quality evidence based rapid risks assessments and other outputs in response to communicable disease threats 11. Conduct the awareness campaigns/workshops/trainings for various types of audience on the risk factors of various vector borne diseases in collaboration with WHO consultants and various other stakeholders 12. Perform other duties as requested to meet the ongoing organizational needs.

Office based job , however, will need to visit other locations such as educational institutes, hospitals, community centres etc as required
Experience
Minimum of 7 years experience acquired in positions relevant to the scope
Educational Qualification and CertificatesEssential Education
Bachelor’s degree in science, public health, or related field. Master’s degree in entomology *Note: Candidates with medical degree shall follow medical law and others shall follow paramedical law.
Required Certification / License
Certification in Entomology is preferred

Advanced level of Arabic and English
Computer Skills
Advanced level skills in MS Office Applications, good working knowledge of statistical programmes such as SPSS and STATA
